An online meeting was held with the women initiative group of Khoni municipality, which was attended by representatives of the City Hall. From them the women received information - at what stage is their statement related to the problem they are advocating. According to representatives of the City Hall, the issue is relevant and will be resolved positively.

The second group of women also started advocating the problem. They demand to whitewash the trees in the IDP village. The online meeting with them was attended by Deputy Mayor Manana Gopodze and other representatives of the City Hall. They hope that, with the support of the City Hall, the problem they raise, will be resolved soon.

September was special for Khoni youth initiative group. They are successfully implementing a small project "We love Abkhazia" within the framework of the sub-grant program.

Two online meetings were held with women initiative groups. The meeting was attended by representatives of local self-government. They heard the information about the problems that the groups are going to advocate. Representatives of the local government promised to provide assistance in the advocacy process, since the problems identified by the group are also actual for them.

Women initiative groups will start an advocacy campaign, and the youth initiative group will start a small project. During online meeting, the team members again reviewed and discussed the projects and the work plan to be implemented.

Khoni working group is actively working according to its plan. During the next online meeting, the members of the group considered the issues identified as a result of the monitoring. It was noted that one more recommendation has been implemented: City Council has established specific days for receiving citizens - 2 days a week, which had not happened before. This order was posted on the official website of the municipality.

The meeting also discussed the Code of Ethics. It was noted that Knoni municipality would adopt a code of ethics based on a permanent order and not on a single decree. Until the next meeting, the members of the group will work in an active consultation mode.

Like the previous month, three meetings were held in Khoni in July - one in the youth initiative group and two in the women's groups.

The youth group actively worked on the project, discussed the envisaged activities, considered and worked out all the details, in order to submit to the competition committee for funding.

In women's initiative groups, women talked about many problems that they want to solve, but they do not have such opportunities. At the end, they selected issues that are prior for them and drafted an advocacy plan.

Guests - representatives of Lanchkhuti and Tsageri municipalities.

Hosts - Representatives of Khoni Municipality City Council and City Hall, members of the local civil society organization and youth center, teachers.

And the unusual format - the debate.

The guests presented their successful work - in terms of developing a code of ethics and the introduction of civic budgeting.

Khoni working group and the representatives of local civil society organization informed the participants about the results of working on small projects, participating in the needs assessment.

The Mayor of Khoni highlighted the achievements of the working group - spoke about the effectiveness of the municipality hotline, updated website and e-petition. Everything that has been done and what is still planned will contribute to the successful implementation of public administration reform.

Population is going to plant hornbeam trees in Gubi. In Dedalauri it is planned to asphalt the central road, the residents of Dzedzileti and Gocha-Jikhaishi have a problem with transport.

These are the problems of the villages of Khoni municipality. And the solution was found...

Electronic petition!

This is a modern, convenient mechanism.

A petition (lat. "Petitio") is a collective request to the authorities in written form.

The Internet has significantly increased and simplified signatures to the petition, improved the dialogue of citizens with government structures. Our project “A common forum for CSOs from Guria, Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi for PAR Roadmap monitoring” also serves to activate Internet resources.

The meeting of khoni working group was held actively. During the meeting, the participants listened to a report on what was done and what they achieved in the municipality: launching a hotline, updating a web page, introducing an electronic petition system, assessing needs, three monitoring of the process of public administration reform. However, there is still much to be done.

Now the working group is working to ensure that the City Council members adopt a document based on the code of ethics. It is also important to determine the days of citizens’ reception in the City Council.

The confidence towards the working group from the side of the representatives of the self-government is worth noting. This is felt at all meetings where members of the City Hall and City Council are actively involved in the discussion of all issues.

It was a round table - presentation on the topic "E-petition in Khoni municipality". The meeting, held in the City Council of Khoni, was attended by 28 participants: representatives of local government and civil sector. Participants were provided with information on the results of the project “A common forum for CSOs from Guria, Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi for PAR Roadmap monitoring”.

One of the successful results of the project is the creation and implementation of an electronic petition system. The speakers talked about the information campaign carried out in 12 administrative units of Khoni municipality, as well as about the e-petitions presented on behalf of the communities and the process of challenging the petitions by the local government.

- Who is the leader, what is civic activism, how does a leader differ from an activist? - An information meeting on these issues was held with members of Khoni Youth Initiative Group.

Participants also gave their own examples of how they are involved in civic activism: participating in planting trees in the school yard, cleaning the school grounds, providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable families, feeding homeless animals ...

Young people know that leadership and civic activism are interrelated and contribute to the development of one another.

Two more meetings were held in women initiative groups. The members of the group took an active part in population’s needs assessment and listened to the results of the research with interest. One of the participants noted that the municipality does not have the luxury of conducting research and thanked the Fund "Sukhumi" for its work. The research will be submitted to the local self-government to take into account the recommendations developed.
