One of the most important segments in the youth direction of the Women Fund "Sukhumi" is the activation of Youth Empowerment Centers.

Trainings are held monthly in 10 municipalities of Western Georgia. The working topics of the trainings in January were early marriages and ways to resolve conflicts. Topical issues caused discussions and thus made all the trainings even more interesting.

The first five trainings were held in Zugdidi, Samtredia, Tsalenjikha, Kobuleti and Terjola municipalities.

The knowledge gained during the trainings is disseminated by young people in their schools, towns and villages, thereby contributing to the reduction of conflicts and the prevention of violence.

The gender equality policy in Georgia and conflict escalation – trainings on this topic are actively conducted in the Youth Empowerment Centers.

Five meetings with young people living in Senaki, Zugdidi, Samtredia, Tkibuli and Tsalenjikha municipalities were held in the first half of the month. The number of participants exceeded 100 people.

All trainings were held offline, therefore, they were distinguished by the involvement of adolescents and their abilities were better revealed during role-playing games, discussions and feedback.

The participants of the training also participated in the campaign of “16 Active Days against Gender-based Violence” and carried out interesting initiated events in their municipalities.

Trainings in five municipalities

Bagdati, Vani, Kobuleti, Samtredia - trainings with youth of these four municipalities were held online and a meeting in Chokhatauri was held face-to-face.

The participants discussed the reasons of conflicts and the topic of tolerance. Live training is always remarkable by role- games and interesting work. Therefore, it was more effective.

“With the help of a specific game, we learned how information is distorted and lost. You helped to understand the reasons that cause conflicts,” said one of the participants.

In November, as in other months, trainings were held in Youth Empowerment Centers in 10 municipalities.
