They told about the work of Fund “Sukhumi” on gender mainstreaming, importance of international experience, necessity of establishing Gender Equality Council and elaboration of a strategic plan for the future. The meeting was held in the frames of the project “Learning from the experience of Visegrad 4 to advocate for equal, inclusive and democratic local governance".

TV program about introduction of gender policy

A TV program about the situation related to introduction of gender policy at local level was broadcasted on live of TV "Rioni".  

A chairperson of Tskhaltubo Municipality Council (Sakrebulo), secretary of the Gender Equality Council of Tskhaltubo Municipality, members of Kutaisi Gender Equality Council, and representatives of society participated in the program. Attendees spoke about the work organized by Fund “Sukhumi in terms of gender studies, elaboration of a Strategic Guidance on local gender policy, the consultative service of the Gender Equality Councils of Municipalities, the process of an Action Plan development. Representatives of Tskhaltubo and Kutaisi Gender Equality Councils talked about gender programs of municipalities and the practice of cooperation with a qualified non-governmental sector.

A TV story that was shown during the program, described meetings in the municipalities of Tskhaltubo and Lanchkhuti, as well as an international conference organized by Fund Sukhumi in Tbilisi.

The program was prepared within the framework of the project "Learning from the experience of Visegrad 4 to advocate for equal, inclusive and democratic local governance".

Gender Equality Dimensions in Georgia

The article “Dimensions of gender equality in Georgia” of the expert Ekaterine Gamakharia was published in Prague (Czech Republic) on May 29.

The article describes the situation related to gender equality in Georgia. The main focus made on the necessity to consolidate actions and response of all stakeholders, including governmental authorities, donor organizations, the private sector and civil society organizations to change the situation for better. Only then, gender policies and programs favouring women’s access to politics, decision-making positions and labour market will be more effective.

Radio program about the significance of integration of gender approaches in public life

A radio program about the significance of integration of gender approaches in our life was broadcasted on air of radio “Rioni” on the 17th of June. Chairperson of Fund Sukhumi Alla Gamakharia – an expert on gender issues told about the work carried out by Fund Sukhumi on integration of gender approaches in life: about the study reflecting European countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary) experiences, and the conference carried out in Tbilisi. The respondent stressed the importance of gender mainstreaming in our life. It seems like simple and ordinary things can greatly affect the lives of women and men. For example, at what time water is delivered, how ramps are equipped or there are none at all, where there is a light in the dark street - these and many other issues affect the lives of women and make it more difficult and unsafe. One can avoid all the afore mentioned if he or she would correctly and competently approach to the solution of gender problems.

TV story about Conference

TV company “Rioni” broadcasted a TV story about the conference “Experiences of Visegrad Four Countries and Georgia to Advocate for Equal, Inclusive and Democratic Local Governance” held on May 11 in Tbilisi.

Experts, organizers of the meeting and guests talked about society’s inclusion at decision- making level, gender budgeting and other crucial issues. The importance of sharing experiences was also stressed.
