Meetings - in this category there is an information about meetings in frames of Fund “Sukhumi” projects - meetings with beneficiaries, representatives of state structures, local and international non-governmental organizations.

 

On May 11, in frames of the monitoring of law on domestic violence, implemented by the fund "Sukhumi" in Senaki municipality there was held in depth interview with the chairperson of social service and focus group with representatives of local self-government.

A focus group was held in IDP community of Khoni with the participation of young people in order to learn their opinion on the reform of the allowance for IDPs. During the meeting, the participants expressed their attitude to the reform, recorded the negative results of the reform and noted the need for needs research.

The Monitoring Group on the Implementation of the Law of Georgia on the Elimination of Domestic Violence, on the Protection of Victims of Domestic Violence and their Assistance, held a focus group with representatives of the City Hall of Zugdidi and an in-depth interview with the head of the social service of the gamgeoba.

The purpose of these meetings was to identify the results of the work of the local government in terms of protecting the victim of violence and the factors that impede the process of preventing violence.

The mobilizers of the Women's Support Centers held information meetings in the municipalities of Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Poti and Zugdidi for a month. They also met with representatives of rural territorial units, employees of the health service and social issues. The purpose of the meetings is, to familiarize representatives of government structures with innovations in the fund and through cooperation to solve local problems.

On April 25, the first meeting of the Gender Equality Council was held in the Sakrebulo meeting hall, the creation of which was preceded by the active three-year work of the Gender Advisory Council of the fund “Sukhumi”, which operated under the Sakrebulo until August 2016.

The Senaki Municipality is the first in Samegrelo region, in Sakrebulo structure of which the Gender Equality Council has already been established, according to the amendment to the Law on Gender Equality and Local Government.

Chairman of Sakrebulo - Jumber Lashkarava, who at the same time is chairman of the Council of Gender Equality, familiarized the meeting members on the final list of the council, which included the deputy chairman and chairmen of the Sakrebulo commissions, deputies, representatives of Gamgeoba, local NGOs. It was noted that in addition to the main structure of the council, other representatives of the local government and civil society can take part in the meetings, having submitted a request for participation in advance.

It should be noted that members of Senaki Club of Voter Women were members of the council. The fund “Sukhumi”, as one of the leading and experienced NGOs in the issues of gender equality, is ready to advise and help the Gender Equality Council to achieve tangible results.

Monthly mobilization meetings were held by mobilizers of the Women's Support Centers of the Fund "Sukhumi".

The subject of the meetings was advocacy and its methods. During the meetings the participants were also familiarized with the reports of the Monitoring Group of the Fund "Sukhumi".

During the month, 33 meetings were held in the municipalities of Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Poti and Zugdidi (Koki and Khurcha villages).

In Tbilisi, there was held a ceremony of awarding the International Children's Drawing Contest "Draw Me the World", in which the Fund "Sukhumi" took part and presented works of young artists from the schools of Kutaisi №6, №30, №15, №21, №11.

As a result of the competition, winners from the school № 30 - Nino Vasilchikov and Georgi Zosiashvili, were awarded diplomas.

At the next 10th meeting of the Council of Advisors of Khoni there was given an information about social projects of the organization PIN. It was noted that new social services aimed at improving the social condition of citizens will be used in the municipality of Khoni, and at the same time will promote to the introduction of long-term social service practices.

Funds for the viability of projects will be allocated from the local budget.

The project is funded by the European Union and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, and is implemented in the municipalities of Khoni, Tkibuli, Zugdidi and Gori.

On April 18-19, the Fund "Sukhumi" organized a study tour to Prague in frames of the project "Studying the experience of the B4 countries for advocating equal, inclusive and democratic governance at the local level".

The meeting was attended by project partners from the Abkhazian side, experts, project participants from the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, representatives of the fund “Sukhumi”.

The following questions were raised: Familiarization with the experience of the Visegrad countries in achieving gender equality; Role of civil society in ensuring gender equality and euro integration; Presentation of the activities of the Fund "Sukhumi" and its contribution to the institutionalization of gender mechanisms at the local level.

With the help of the partners, an interesting meeting was organized with the local Self-government "Prague 10" to familiarize with the experience of gender mainstreaming in the local municipality.

A key place during the meeting was the discussion of methodology and development of a research methodology for policy documents on gender mainstreaming in local authorities in the context of European integration.

In the conference hall of Khoni Sakrebulo there gathered the members of Women Initiative Group. They familiarized with the working experience of Kutaisi and Tskaltubo Initiative Groups. By the opinion of the group members the problems are similar, therefore it is very important to find out how their advocacy in other cities is going on.

The women's initiative group is starting to work on a new problem - its advocacy will help to improve the level of human security.
