Samtredia municipality is in the process of forming a Department for the Protection of Children's rights and their support. Therefore, representatives of the Children's Departments of Senaki, Lanchkhuti, Khoni, Tskhaltubo and Bagdati municipalities were invited to the information meeting in Samtredia. The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Mayor of Samtredia Municipality Vladimir Zakradze, Deputy Chairman of the City Council Natia Papava, representatives of the administrative units and public officials.

Meeting in Rokhi

The advocacy group held an information meeting in the village Rokhi (Bagdati municipality), which was attended by school teachers, kindergarten teachers and high school students, members of the inter-department commission, employees of the City Hall Department for Children's Rights Protection and Support.

The participants received information about the establishment, structure, rights and duties of the inter-department commission working on issues of violence against women and domestic violence. The participants were also introduced to the structure of the Department for Children's Rights Protection and Support and the results of the monitoring of its work. Participants noted that they already know when to address this department.

A meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for the Elimination of Violence against Women was held in Senaki City Hall meeting room. The meeting was attended by members of the commission, as well as representatives of the City Council, schools and the Women Fund “Sukhumi”.

After reviewing specific cases, the participants of the meeting discussed the issues of violence prevention, protection of victims and cooperation with local government agencies.

The interdepartmental commission decided to join the annual 16-day information campaign against gender-based violence.

Our Representatives at the Feminist Forum

On October 6-9, the feminist forum "Body and Environment: Feminist Ideas and Practices of Organizing Care, Resistance, and Solidarity" was held.

During four days, together with queer and feminist activists, researchers, and forum participants, Representatives of Women's Fund "Sukhumi" - Nino Korinteli and Linda Chikhladze were involved in a process to created a safe space for the exchange and discussion of interdisciplinary, local, and regional knowledge and experiences.

Together with the WISG team, we also hope that these inspiring days will certainly lay the foundation for new opportunities for thinking, working, and collaborating. Among them, is to continue the forum's tradition of creating and transforming new spaces for queer feminist imagination, knowledge, and practice.

Solar energy has been used by people for a long time. Today, the mentioned issue is especially relevant. 10 informational meetings held in Khoni, Vani, Terjola, Senaki, Tskaltubo and Tkibuli were devoted to the topic of renewable energy efficiency.

The participants received full information on how efficient and profitable the solar battery is. The participants were interested in many things: how many liters are in the tank? What is the price? Does the price depend on the volume? Can it be installed individually in the flats? Can it be it damaged by natural phenomena?

Participants of the information meetings received competent answers to all questions.

Representatives of various vulnerable groups actively participated in the information meetings held in Terjola and Akhalsopeli (Senaki municipality).

The participants noted that such meetings and receiving correct information are of great importance in the situation when the number of femicide facts increase. They got acquainted with the website of the Women Fund "Sokhumi" https://sosfsokhumi.ge/.

According to them, the mentioned webpage should be distributed to the general public, which will have a positive impact in terms of violence prevention.

New format of meetings

In September, information meetings were held in a different format. Young people and teachers were actively involved in them. The meetings were held in the public schools of Zeda Vani and Tskaltubo.

The webpage https://sosfsokhumi.ge/ aroused great interest in the audience. It was noted that in an environment where femicide has increased, it is important to spread the information on this page widely. Young people, as active users of the Internet, saw their role in this. Access to information about existing municipal services in this regard, was also mentioned as relevant.

Working Meeting in the Parliament

The Permanent Parliamentary Council for Gender Equality and the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee held a working meeting with representatives of international and local non-governmental organizations regarding the implementation of the 9th recommendation out of 12 recommendations of the European Union, which is related to gender equality issues.

The meeting highlighted several key issues in the direction of gender equality: the reaffirmation of the state's commitment to gender equality, the launch of the idea of women's economic empowerment, and the implementation of legislative measures that will be in line with the Istanbul Convention.

In her speech, Eka Gamakharia, head of the Women Fund "Sukhumi" Tbilisi office, emphasized the importance of women's economic empowerment for the prevention of violence against women and effective response. According to the promise of the Permanent Parliamentary Council for Gender Equality, a personal working meeting will be dedicated to the detailed discussion of the mentioned issue.

Presentation of the website in Terjola

The presentation of the new website of the Women Found "Sukhumi" was held in the conference hall of Terjola City Council. The meeting was attended by members of the City Council, local referral entities, community representatives.

Participants noted that the website "Digital Resource Center of Services for Violence Victims" includes all information that victims of violence need, the main thing is that many people know about it, so that the functions and contact information of the website can be used by everyone for whom it is vitally necessary.
