Special days for children

- These 10 days were productive and intense. The children liked the games: funny math, pets, English and Georgian alphabets, rubik's cube... We drew together, sculpted, read fairy tales, watched animated films, danced, played, learned how to make roses from colored paper. And we they talked a lot. They asked questions and I answered in a simple, understandable language - says Anna Lomidze, assistant of the Rehabilitation Center for work with small children.

The rehabilitation center of the Women Fund "Sukhumi" opened this year in one of the beautiful corners of Kutaisi. A woman with children can stay here for 10-15 days. A social worker, a psychologist and a lawyer work with her.

In order for the children not to be left without attention and to spend their free time fruitfully, another employee was attracted to the center - an assistant for working with small children. Despite the fact that Anna has worked only with one group so far, she has something to say and a small success story has already appeared.

The first meeting was devoted to familiarization with each other. Everyone said about themselves - their name, what class they are in, etc. One handsome, red-haired boy did not say anything. His brother and sister said that he does not speak and attends lessons with his mother. But the child spoke – he gave an answer to the teacher, who said that she wanted to be friends with him ... Then Anna worked especially with this boy, and every day the communication became better and better.

In May 6 children with their mothers from 7 to 12 years old stayed in the Rehabilitation Center. The children got up early and waited for the teacher - they met her every morning with surprises, drawings, applications.

- These are wonderful children, - says Anna. – We had a lot of interesting stories during these 10 years. Everything was memorable for them and for me.

These days the children lived a different life. They saw the calm, happy faces of their mothers. They felt care, warmth, attention. And they returned to their cities with a positive attitude - with mothers who became stronger and more self-confident.

And the Rehabilitation Center of the Women Fund "Sukhumi" will soon accept new mothers with their children. Anna Lomidze is already preparing to meet them...

The project is implemented with the support of the organization Brot
