Meeting with Imereti municipalities

An online meeting was held with representatives of 12 municipalities in partnership with the Imereti Regional Administration. The meeting was attended by the person from the regional administration, responsible for gender issues, members of the Gender Council of the municipalities, heads of Social and Health Services of the City Hall, Gender Advisors. Activities related to the implementation of gender policy in municipalities, identification of violence against women and domestic violence, prevention of violence and protection of victims were discussed. The conversation focused on the challenges of gender budgeting and program evaluation against the background of the new reality created in the conditions of Covid-19. Representatives of the Fund "Sukhumi" presented to the participants the problems identified by the research, the situation of victims and risk groups during Covid-19, recommendations developed for various structures. The conversation touched the role and functions of regional administrations in coordinating gender equality policies in municipalities; The importance of providing information on the activities of gender councils and the challenges they face, to the relevant structures at the national level; The issue of methodological assistance, the need for appropriate resources.

News, as the PR tool in the organizational activity - the second training

News on the Internet, the structure of the news, the correct selection of photos, the expansion of the audience – this is one part of some of the issues discussed at the training organized by the Fund "Sukhumi". Particular emphasis was placed on how the news should reflect the results of the activities, the lessons learned and the story of success.

Representatives of 16 civil society organizations from 8 municipalities, the Fund “Sukhumi”, the Fund of Women Entrepreneurs and Imereti Scientists’ Union “Spectri” participated in the online training.

The work is carried out in the framework of the project “A common forum for CSOs from Guria, Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi for PAR Roadmap monitoring”.

Bagdati - meeting with medical staff

The Fund “Sukhumi” held an informational meeting with medical staff in Bagdati on the topic “Violence against women / domestic violence - the role of doctors in violence prevention and assistance to the victim”.

During the meeting, the doctors working in the clinics of the administrative-territorial units of the municipality got acquainted with information on violence prevention and assistance to the victim. As noted, the existing legislative basis obliges doctors to become more actively involved in combating violence against women / domestic violence. The meeting was also attended by representatives of local self-government, who clearly see their role in this process.

Samtredia - meeting with local medical staff

The round table meeting of the Gender Equality Council and the medical staff of the municipality was held in Samtredia City Hall. The meeting once again highlighted the problem of violence against women / domestic violence, with an emphasis on the inclusion of medical staff in referral system. The issue of raising the qualification of medical personnel, greater participation in local multidisciplinary cooperation was identified.

Khoni – informational meeting with the medical staff

“Violence against women / domestic violence - the role of doctors in violence prevention and assistance to the victim”  - An informational meeting with medical staff on this topic was held in the conference hall of Khoni Sakrebulo. The meeting was attended by, family doctors, emergency doctors, medical staff working in small rural clinics and the members of Gender Equality Council.

The main emphasis was placed on the role of medical staff in identification of violence victims and their assistance, on inclusion of doctors in the process of formation of local health programs. Meetings with medical staff were scheduled, where they will be familiarized with local health programs.
