The first stage of the " Online – Vote- O- Meter – Voters’ Advice Application" for the 2021 local self-government elections in Zugdidi Municipality has been completed.

According to the answers given in the application, 8️3% of the population believe that in Zugdidi Municipality there is a need to improve e-services and increase the population's access to local e-programs and services. The same number consider that, it is necessary to assess the infrastructural, technical and human resource needs of outpatient clinics in the villages and ensure their proper functioning. 8️0️% mentions that local self-government should be involved in the process of preventing and combating the COVID-19 pandemic in the region. 7️8% think that women should be proportionally involved in management and decision-making positions in local municipality.

Zugdidi voters still have the opportunity to find out which party is closest to their views and to make an informed choice in the second round as well.

For the local self-government elections in Zugdidi Municipality, the Fund „Sukhumi” introduced a model that is successful in Europe - an online “ Vote- O- Meter” – Voters’ Advice Application to inform the voters in pre- election period.

Tbilisi Representative Office of the Fund "Sukhumi" actively cooperates with political parties. The following political entities took part in filling out the application: "Shalva Natelashvili - Georgian Labor Party", "Girchi - More Freedom", "Lelo for Georgia", "Giorgi Vashadze - Strategy Aghmashenebeli", "European Georgia ", GP "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia ","United National Movement".

Partner organization “Imedi” held meetings with small groups and individuals in Zugdidi regarding the application “Online-Vote-O-Meter”.

Some of the young people filled in the application on the spot, which turned out to be interesting for them. They expressed a desire that they will definitely include others, since the process of comparing the vision of citizens with the programs of the party is interesting. The application is active, and they can fill it in and share information with their close people any time.

Another informational meeting on “Voters’ Advice Application” was held with the members of Kortskheli youth club - future entrepreneurs. The youth had many questions, and the meeting was interactive. Some of the meeting participants cannot take part in the elections because of their age, although this information is important for them for two reasons: they can easily provide assistance to older people interested in the application, and through such a platform, after several years they will make a meaningful decision at the ballot boxes.

Voters’ Advice Application has been introduced – in Zugdidi municipality for the local self-government elections in 2021.

This is the second application of the Fund "Sukhumi". The first was activated for the 2020 parliamentary elections - more than 70,000 voters used this online platform and received information about the programs of political actors.

The preparatory work was completed: information leaflets were printed, questions were developed and the answers of political units were reflected, a video clip is ready, informational meetings were held and will be held in Zugdidi municipality.

The cycle of informational meetings with the voters of Zugdidi municipality continues. The format is mixed again.

Through the efforts of the organization - a member of the women peacemaking coalition “Mercury”, representatives of civil society: internally displaced persons, residents of villages close to the conflict line, representatives of the private sector received information about the online platform introduced by the Fund “Sukhumi”.

The second meeting was held with the youth. They showed interest in the topic of elections and expressed a desire to help older people who are not aware of modern technologies, to use the platform.

A regular meeting with young voters was held in Zugdidi, in order to get acquainted with the online application of the Fund "Sukhumi".

Young people chose the format of the discussion, and voiced their own "order" before political parties: "I would like political parties to implement preventive programs to introduce a healthy lifestyle in the municipality", "support youth civic activism", "create spaces for young people in villages", " it would be nice if small businesses for young people would be supported".

In the first days of September, the organization "Mercury", a member of the coalition "Women for Peace", organized two meetings with the voters of Zugdidi municipality. Due to pandemic restrictions, the format was combined - both online and with small groups of citizens.

The meeting participants received information about the online application introduced by the Fund "Sukhumi". They tried to familiarizes with the rules of its use. There were also those who expressed aggression towards the elections.

Part of participants have lack of information about the programs of the parties, but they are going to participate in the elections and believe that the information received through the platform will help them to make the right choice.

“Needs and priorities of IDP and conflict affected women living in Zugdidi municipality and the importance of their integration into local policy” - this is the title of a new Fund “Sukhumi’s” publication. Main conclusions, findings and recommendations identified as a result of the study will be submitted to local political parties. This will facilitate a full-fledged pre-election communication between women and local political actors and strengthen an appropriate feedback of political parties on the needs of their voters.

Civil Society Organization “Imedi” is one of the partners of the project. The organization held an online information meeting with members of the women peacekeeping club.

The participants got acquainted with a social video prepared by the Fund "Sukhumi" for filling in the online platform "Voters’ Advice Application". They also received information about the project and the issues that will be posted on the platform.

According to the participants, the project is very interesting. The voter receives alternative information, different from television, which will help to make the right decision during the elections.
