Czech Republic: Municipality representatives of Georgia learn information about the project

A seminar for municipality representatives from Georgia was held in the NGO Gender Studies, Czech Republic, in June 2017. The topic of the seminar was the gender mainstreaming and NGO participation on gender equality in Czech Republic.

Clara Kozlova – an expert involved in the project of Fund “Sukhumi” – “Learning from Visegrad 4 Experience to Advocate for Equal, Inclusive and Democratic Local Governance”, financed by the Visegrad Foundation, told the seminar participants about the project and a research conducted by the experts of 5 countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Georgia), for policy documents on gender mainstreaming in local authorities in the context of European integration.

Educational trip to Kiev on the project "Overcoming the consequences of the war together"

  

From May 19 to May 26, project participants from 4 countries (Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia and the North Caucasus) met in Kiev to study the experience of NGOs in Ukraine on issues of working with IIDPs from conflict areas. A total of 16 key participants took part in the trip, 4 coordinators and project director from Germany.

During the trip the participants had an opportunity to get acquainted with the work of 11 organizations of Ukraine. The meetings were organized at a high level both in the working and cultural-educational part. They harmoniously complemented each other.

Integration, resettlement, payment of benefits and compensation, programs for building peace and restoring confidence are the main issues that were discussed at the meetings.

This educational trip showed the need for cooperation not only on the ground, but also between countries that have similar problems and interests.

Thanks to this program, participants learned that questions of peace and the restoration of trust are one of the main tasks in the solution of which civil society must take an active part.

The necessary information and innovations - for the next mobilization meetings

  

The mobilizers of the Women Support Centers of the Fund "Sukhumi" held six meetings with representatives of various government agencies in June.

The mobilizers of Khoni and Tskaltubo met with representatives of social protection and health services. In Poti, a meeting was held with the counselor on the gender issue, and in Senaki - with the head of the village of Teklati. The mobilizers of Khurcha/Koki Women Support Center met with Deputy Gamgebeli of Zugdidi Municipality. In Kutaisi a meeting with the director of the college "Iberia" was held.

The necessary information and innovations (on social support, on gender issues or free vocational training programs), which the mobilizers learned at the meetings, will undoubtedly be reflected in the next mobilization meetings.

Women initiative groups: advocacy for human security

  

Women initiative groups of Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo worked for a whole month with the goal of advocating various issues.

Street lighting, road engraving in villages, asphalting, roof repairs, information meetings with different communities, communication with representatives of local authorities - during the reporting period initiative groups reflected exactly these issues.

Every problem solved, for which specific people are responsible, are in direct connection with the common goal - raising the level of human security in society.

Mobilization meetings in cities and villages

  

 

In June, two important days are celebrated - International Children's Day and International Day of IDPs and Refugees.

The mobilizers of the Women Support Centers of the Fund "Sukhumi", devoted the meetings in cities and villages to these dates, with different beneficiaries. They talked about problems and outlined ways of their advocacy.

During the month, 33 mobilization meetings were held in the municipalities of Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Poti and Zugdidi.
