Summing up the results of Ozurgeti GAC

    

The three-year collaboration with the Gender Advisory Council (GAC) has been fruitful and results-oriented - this assessment was made on the part of the Ozurgeti local government at the conference, which was held on July 21 to summarize the results of Ozurgeti GAC.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Guria, a local self-government, Ozurgeti, Kutaisi and Senaki GACs, municipalities of Guria (Lanchkhuti and Chokhatauri) and Adzharia (Shuakhevi, Khulo, Keda, Khelvachauri, Kobuleti).

The main focus at the conference was made on the change made to the law on gender equality to create gender councils in municipalities. It was the main objective of the project. The results of the GACs, established in frames of pilot project will be exemplary for other municipalities.

With the assistance of Fund "Sukhumi" and local self-government, GAC of Ozurgeti has 8 projects. The meeting presented an analysis of the results obtained in the framework of projects.

On the part of local government there were highlighted a research of local gender needs and development of recommendations as a reference document for the local government and the local plan for the gender policy.

Final conference of Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council

     

Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council (GAC) has summed up the three-year work. The conference was attended by representatives of 12 administrative units of Kutaisi municipality, members of Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Senaki GACs, NGO representatives and media.

Speakers of the conference have focused on the results that are achieved within three years. It was noted that GAC has made a significant contribution to the creation of a gender policy at the local level. The result - in the budget in 2016 genderissues are reflected.

The results also were:the relevance of gender themes in the local media, the importance and priority of gender budgeting, legislative changes for creation of gender councils at the municipal level.

As was said at the conference, GAC experience and results will create a good basis for future Council of Kutaisi to work effectively in the direction of gender.

Informational meeting in SOS children’s village

 

On July 18 in SOS childrens’ village of Kutaisi there was held uinformational meeting with the staff of the organization. The meeting was attended by the member of Sakrebulo – Lela kelyui96iani.

Meeting participants spoke about different problems and asked the representative of local self-government to help in solution of these problems.

Discussion after the film

  

In the “Village House” of the village Orsantia (Zugdidi Municipality) there was shown a film of Georgian editor Zurab Inashvili “Speak!”

After the film there was held a round table, active discussion regarding the film and the issues raised in it.

This activity was held in frames of the project “Domestic violence and mechanisms of victims’ protection”.

There were invited women from the villages Ingiri and Didinedzi.

Kutaisi GAC is preparing for the conference

 

 Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council (GAC) summarizes results of three-year activity: with this aim, a large-scale conference is held. At the meeting of the GAC there were discussed organizational issues, and a list of participants was compiled. The conference was attended by representatives of 12 administrative units of Kutaisi, as well as local authorities and media.

According to members of the GAC, the conference is a good arena to share their experience, to make a record, evaluate and present the positive results of achievements in the gender area.
